In the News today - Mobile Number Portability

Since there's been a lot of hype about this particular 'historic event', you may be wondering What? and How? So here's the low-down on Mobile Number Portability. aka. MPN.

What is it?
It is a new facility that allows you to switch your user without changing your mobile number.
Can be GSM to GSM connection or CDMA to GSM connection and vice versa.

How to switch - Rules:
a) Send an SMS: PORT to 1900 from your mobile.

b) You will get an eight-digit alphanumeric code and an expiry date for that code from the current service provider. This code is called unique porting code, or UPC.

c) Fill the application in a particular format and mention the new service provider, you would like to subscribe for.

d) The new service provider will collect the information about the user from the current operator. A time period of seven days will be taken for the complete transfer of mobile number to the network of the new mobile operator.

e) As a transformation charge for the new operator the subscriber has to pay Rs. 19/-

TADAAAHHHH! And there you have it! But since Idea made such lame-ass ads about the whole thing - they don't deserve new subscribers! That's right idea! IN UR (ABHI)SHAKY FACE!
